Our lab studies phytoplankton ecology, nitrogen cycling, eutrophication and harmful algae.

Our projects range from understanding phytoplankton physiology of nutrient uptake, to assessing how nutrient quantity and form may alter the dynamics of plankton ecosystems, and the effects of harmful algae on organisms and systems.  We are also interested in using stable isotopes and in situ technology to track these processes. Our current projects are in Chesapeake Bay, Maryland Coastal Bays and Florida Bay.
