Introduction | Water Quality Overview

Welcome to the Mid-Shore Data Bank, a site designed to provide the public with easy access to mid-shore water quality testing results. Hopefully by educating the public on issues of water quality we will help affect positive change in local communities.

This site provides access to data and maps of water quality for the Choptank and Miles Rivers. Browsers can view data in map form by following the "Map Viewer" tab above and data can also be downloaded in a couple of different file formats by clicking on the "Download Center" tab above.User feedback is welcome and encouraged.

Please visit the feedback section of this site and let us know what improvements you would like to see and what questions you may have. Our goal is to continually improve this site by updating data, building in new functionality, and increasing user friendliness. User feedback will be an invaluable tool in helping us along this road. Thanks for your support. All maps on this site are powered by ArcIMS (Internet Map Server), an ESRI product that enables the distribution of interactive maps via the internet. We felt it was the right choice for this project since one of the main goals is to reach as many members of the community as possible without the necessity of learning to run a GIS program or the financial burden of purchasing extra software. In today's age of technology nothing makes more sense then utilizing the power and reach of the internet. We hope by doing so this site can be utilized by all interested and concerned parties.

The project to make these data publicly available on the web is funded by grants from the Clayton Fund (Tom Fisher and Court Stevenson, principal investigators), IAN (Integration and Application Network) of the University of Maryland's Center for Environmental Studies (Tom Fisher, principal investigator), and NASA's Land Use Land Cover Change program (Tom Fisher, principal investigator).
