ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PAPERS
THE 15TH INTERNATIONL SYMPOSIUM ON OKHOTSK SEA & SEA ICE
THE 2ND ICE SCOUR & ARCTIC MARINE PIPELINES WORKSHOP
INVITATION
We invite you to participate in the 15th International Symposium on Okhotsk Sea & Sea Ice and the 2nd Ice Scour and Arctic Marine Pipelines Workshop, MOMBETSU-2000 Conference. The joint conference of the Symposium and Workshop will be held in Mombetsu, Hokkaido, Japan on February 6-9, 2000.
The Okhotsk Sea & Sea Ice Symposia are organized annually by the Okhotsk Sea & Cold Ocean Research Association (OSCORA). The Okhotsk Sea & Sea Ice Symposia are intended to all scientists and engineers interested in issues related to sea ice and the Okhotsk Sea areas. The MOMBETSU-2000 Conference will especially address the new results from research programs being carried out in the Okhotsk Sea, Baltic Sea and Arctic/subarctic waters, and the new developments in the offshore industry together with ice problems. A special emphasis will be focused on the review of ice scour effects relevant to the safe design and operation of marine pipelines offshore, and to address the issues of damage control, oil spill cleanup and risk management.
Technical tours will be arranged to the icebreaker, 'Garinko II' for a sightseeing tour in the ice-covered water, to the Okhotsk Tower for having an experience in an aquarium under the ice and to the Okhotsk Sea Ice Museum of Hokkaido. Refreshment at a hot spring will be also arranged after the symposium.
