Circum Arctic Paleo-River Discharge and Its Geological Record
Special Issue "Geologische Rundschau"
First Circular (December 1998)
Dear colleague,
We plan to publish a special issue of "Geologische Rundschau", International
Journal of Earth Sciences, titled "Circum Arctic Paleo-River Discharge and Its
Geological Record". The title already shows that this issue will
concentrate on the reconstruction of ancient river discharge and its change through
geological times. Original and review papers based on studies of marine sediment cores as
well as land sections from the western (Canadian)
Arctic and the eastern (Eurasian) Arctic are welcome. Papers dealing with circum-Arctic
studies are of special interest. Although we will focus on paleo-river discharge, a few
selected synthesis papers about modern Arctic
river discharge and its geological signature in surface sediments may be included.
If you or your coworkers are interested in submitting a manuscript to be included into this special issue of "Geologische Rundschau", please send a tentative title and list of authors to

Based on the response to this first circular, a tentative table of content will be
produced and all potential authors will be informed and asked for submitting a manuscript
(for deadlines see below). Before being accepted for
publication, all manuscripts will be peer-reviewed.
As discussed with the Editor-in-Chief of "Geologische Rundschau", Christian Dullo, GEOMAR Kiel, Germany, the deadlines of this special issue are the following:
January 31, 1998 Deadline for response to this first circular (Submission of tentative title of a manuscript)
February 15, 1999 Compilation of tentative table of content and call for papers
September 30, 1999 Deadline for submission of the manuscripts
Oct-Dec, 1999 Review of manuscripts
December 1999 Reviews to be sent to the authors
February 29, 2000 Deadline for submission of revised manuscripts
Fall 2000 Publication of the special issue
