POLAR GEOGRAPHY
Polar Geography is a quarterly publication first published in 1977 as
a vehicle for making available, in English translation, important
Soviet, Japanese, and west European research on the polar regions.
Over the years, the journal's focus has shifted to the north
circumpolar region with emphasis on the Russian Arctic, publishing
articles dealing with human as well as physical dimensions of Arctic
and Subarctic environments.
The new editorial team from Byrd Polar Research Center and the
Department of Geography at The Ohio State University are broadening
the geographic scope and scientific content of Polar Geography.
As the Arctic and Antarctic are integral components of the global
climate system, the editors will publish papers with a polar focus
that recognize these global interactions and thus will be of interest
to a broader audience than just the polar scientific community. The
journal offers scientists a venue for publishing longer papers such
as might result from distillation of a thesis, or review papers that
place in global context results from coordinated (international)
research efforts currently underway in both polar regions.
